  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

    Candidates must be:

    • Aged 19+
    • A West Midlands resident
    • Must be earning less than £34,500 if employed or self-employed
    • Living in the UK for over 3 years, or have Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK
    • Individuals under the Ukrainian settlement or similar scheme are also eligible

    It supports progression into employment, vocational training and further education by strengthening communication skills needed in the UK.

    Purpose & Overview

    These qualifications are designed for learners who already have secure English skills and are ready to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 ESOL award.

    Each award assesses a specific skill area and is certificated separately.

    Qualification Structure

    • Writing – Develops structured writing skills for formal and informal contexts, including reports, emails and extended responses.
    • Reading – Builds the ability to understand complex texts, extract information and interpret meaning.
    • Speaking and Listening – Develops confident verbal communication, discussion skills and presentation ability.

    Progression Opportunities

    On completion, learners may progress to:

    • Higher education or vocational Level 3 qualifications
    • Apprenticeships
    • Employment requiring Level 2 English
    • Functional Skills English (if required for funding pathways)

    Delivery and Assessment

    You’ll learn through a mix of speaking, listening, reading and writing activities to build your English language skills for everyday life and work.

    You’ll complete assessments to show your progress in each skill area.

    Tasks are designed to be engaging and supportive, with guidance from your tutor throughout the course.

    You will complete externally set assessments in speaking and listening, reading and writing.
